Basic FAQs & Rules for Mobile Number Portability
- You should be a customer of your existing mobile operator company for atleast 2 months before you can apply for MNP services
- There should not be any dues on your existing operator if you want to use this facility
- MNP will work for both Postpaid & Prepaid Users.
- You can not use MNP services for two different states. If you are a prepaid or postpaid user in one state then you can switch your mobile number operator with other state. You can only apply for the operators of the same and inside state.
- Your Mobile Phone may get disconnected for few hours for MNP process to take place.
How to Change Mobile Phone Operator or Port a Mobile Number
Follow the following steps to port your mobile phone number easily.
- You have to send SMS before porting your mobile number. Send PORT mobilenumber e.g. PORT 99******** (10 digit mobile number) to 1900. Keep in mind that there should be space between PORT & mobile number.
- Keep your mobile switch on because you will receive a unique porting number on your mobile phone and you should reply it within less time because after some time it will get expired & then it will not work.
- You should not keep any due in existing mobile operator before porting your mobile number to other mobile network. Because you will get approval only when there is no due from your side. If there is any dues then you must pay your mobile operator before performing these steps.
- According to their rules, It may take maximum 4 days to process your request and you will receive a confirmation sms on the day it happens.
